Boise, ID - October 31, 2012 – The Live Foundation, Inc. showed their support of community health by presenting the Idaho – E. Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation a grant of $4,860.00 for a Plusoptix vision screener for their Mobile Health Screening program. This enhanced eye screening equipment will allow Lions to screen children as young as 6 months old, provide more in-depth and precise information during eye exams, and help in researching the functioning of the eye.
According to Jay Lugo, Executive Director of the Lions Foundation, “our Mobile Health Screening Program has identified thousands of individuals with vision, hearing, and diabetes related concerns through its screenings and is a deserving recipient of this grant. Helping the underserved receive basic health screenings is one of the challenges our community faces, and it’s a need our organization continues to address. We are also extraordinarily grateful for the support and contributions we received from the Live Foundation, Inc. to help us continue to make a difference.”
In addition to the Mobile Health Screening program, the Idaho Lions Foundation conducts a variety of programs, including the Idaho Lions Eye Bank, Eye Glass and Hearing Aid Recycling program, Diabetes Awareness, and a Personal Assistance program for individuals in need of vision and hearing care who cannot afford hearing aids or eye and ear surgeries.
The Idaho Lions Foundation is based out of Boise but its outreach extends beyond the Treasure Valley. The Foundation’s affiliated Lions clubs have thousands of members throughout Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
