Our Mission is to be a humanitarian organization dedicated to serve our Lions Clubs, Idaho Communities, and the world, as an outstanding quality provider of sight and hearing assistance. The Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation oversees the following exceptional projects: The Idaho Lions Eye Bank - The Eye Bank obtains, evaluates and distributes corneal eye tissue from humanitarian donors. The Lions Hearing Aid  Bank - Provides hearing aids at no cost to qualifying citizens. Lions Personal Assistance - The Foundation screens children for vision and hearing problems, and if necessary will assist in purchasing vision and hearing correction. The Foundation also provides financial assistance for eye and ear operations for the financially disadvantaged. Lions Mobile Screening Unit - The MSU screens children and adults for hearing, vision, blood pressure, glaucoma, and diabetes.

2009April is National Donate Life Month. Thousands of Americans are in need of vital organs and tissues. Each one of us has the potential to save or enhance the life of sixty individuals. The Idaho Lions Eye Bank will be kicking off the month long celebration at the Department of Motor Vehicles, 3311 W. State St. Boise, Idaho on April 1 2009 at noon. Please join us in a Donate Life Flag raising along with inspirational speakers.

Director's Message


 

  40 year anniversary The Idaho-E. Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing  Foundation inc. has made such a unique contribution to our Idaho and Eastern Oregon communties over the last four decades. Our foundation founders had the insight to fill a hole in our health care communities, by establishing an eye bank, personal assistance grants for those at poverty levels, a hearing aid bank, recycling eyeglasses, providing free eye and ear exams for elementary school children and teaching about the dangers of Diabetes. I would like to thank the Foundation Founders for achieving a lasting organization that has delivered exceptional results over a long period of time. The Foundation has evolved over the last forty years and continues to become stronger than ever before. Thus, allowing us to live our mission of dedication and service to our communities.  

Over the last forty years we have provided over 5,000 corneal transplants to those afflicted with blindness, we have assisted over 1,500 individuals acquire needed surgeries. We have provided hundreds of thousands of free eye and ear screening to elementary schools age children dating back to 1969.

The Idaho E. Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation is entering a new era. We will be working on our new five year strategic plan, updated Foundation bylaws, new board members, new advisory board, new partnerships with related organizations, and a new planned giving program. the purpose of our advancements is to continue being successful in helping our local Lions Clubs help their community. Through our own growth and successes we are now able to give directly to our local Lions clubs who in turn can dedicate more resources to their community.
